Kayon Mountain is a 500-hectare coffee farm owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012. Located about 510 kilometers south of Addis Ababa, the farm stretches across two villages—Taro and Sewana—in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region, within the Guji Zone of the Shakiso District.
Roughly 300 hectares of the land are dedicated to coffee cultivation. The farm includes its own nursery and uses shade trees—like acacia and other native species—not only to protect the coffee plants but also to produce compost for natural fertilization. Ismael is known for his careful attention to detail, not just in managing the farm, but also in the harvesting and processing stages. Both natural and washed coffees are produced on-site, with a strong focus on quality throughout every step.
